Children: Pieter ‎(Sept 11 1695 - Feb 9 1718)‎, Marij ‎(Sept 15 1697, married Jan Pietersz Mantel)‎, Trijn ‎(Aug 9 1699 - April 24 1723)‎, Fokel ‎(Oct 2 1701-March 20 1708)‎, Geert ‎(Feb 18 1703- March 3 1714)‎, Meijnouw ‎(Jan 31 1706, died April 28 1721)‎, Pietertje ‎(Feb 12 1708, married Nanne Nansz Robbert)‎, Fokel ‎(Oct 27 1709, married Pieter Pietersz Kort)‎, Aaf ‎(Jan 25 1711, married Klaas Reinders Kooiman)‎, Jacob ‎(Sept 18 1712; married Alijd Willems, took over the windmill)‎, Geert ‎(1715, married Jan Dirksz Groen)‎.

Dirk changed his last name ‎(then a nickname)‎ from Cragt to his profession. They had 11 children altogether, but no sons passed the name Meulen ‎(Molen)‎ down to their children. Only one of his great grandsons did. The Gaardersregister of deaths states that Willem Swagerman paid 3.00 guilders for the body of Dirk Pieterszn Molen, who died on the “Noorderdijk” ‎(another name for Andijk)‎.

Millers were normally among the wealthiest people in any given town. It was definitely a prestigious profession. All grain farmers needed a place to have their grain ground into flour, and almost everyone in a smaller town would have a farm of some kind - it was the way they survived. So it can be assumed that Dirk was quite wealthy. He certainly was wealthy in children. And all 10 survived infancy.

It's curious that of his 11 children, 6 of them died between the ages of 8 and 23, all in different years. Usually children died under the age of 5, so Dirck certainly had a good record there ‎(none died)‎. And 3 others died in their 30's and 40's. Only Pietertje lived to the ripe old age of 74. Was there some kind of hereditary disease in the family? Both Dirck and Lijsbet lived to be 70, so they didn't have "the" health problem.

It's also curious that not a single son had sons. Therefore the name Meulen ‎(or Molen)‎ passed out of existence for two generations. His daughter Pietertje married Nanne Nannesz Robbert; their son Jan married Marij Cornelis Backer - Luup. They named their son Pieter Molen to keep the name alive. Marij's mother Alijd Willems had as her first husband Jacob Dircksz Meulen, who had no childrern, so there was this connection as well.

He made profession of faith on May 4 1698 in the Buurtjeskerk. They lived in het Buurtje at that time; they still lived there in 1723.

Dirk became an elder in the Andijk church on February 21 1727 ‎(usually a position held for life)‎, and was involved in the process forbidding Sijmen Bakker from taking the Lord’s Supper.

Dirk bought a windmill in 1722 on the Molenweg on a polder called Het Grootslag) for 73 guilders. His windmill was likely used to grind grain, although it may also have drained water out of the area. There were some windmills there built in 1545 to drain the land. In the 19th century there were still 3 large windmills and 2 small ones on the area of Andijk known as de Molendijk. In 1734 Dirk co-signed a document that said a windmill there called “De Admiraal” was in very bad condition.‎[1]‎

In a testament dated Feb 15 1742, Dirk Pietersz Molen is mentioned in his brother Herman's will. By now Dirk had died. They were to receive all the money as well as his house in Krimpen.
